No. Set up correctly, the water stays entirely within the object — nothing reaches the desk, your papers, or your keyboard.
The words that matter are set up correctly. The bamboo pole has to point directly above the tipping mechanism, and the pump pressure has to be adjusted so the arm fills at the right rate. Both take a few minutes and a little care at the start. Get them right once and the object simply runs.

Soft and rhythmic — bamboo meeting bamboo, water meeting water, then quiet. It's a pulse arriving on its own schedule rather than a continuous rush, and the silence between is most of it.
At desk distance it sits under conversation and shouldn't trouble a call. It is the quietest kind of presence: you stop noticing it, and then you notice when it isn't there.
Yes — by unplugging it at the socket. There is no switch on the object itself, and we'd rather say so than let you assume otherwise.
It's a deliberate simplicity: fewer parts, fewer things to fail on a handmade object. Most owners find they leave it running and forget it's there.
A working desk, a studio table, a shelf at eye level, a reading corner — anywhere your attention already goes, and needs somewhere else to land for a moment.
It needs a level surface and a socket within reach. Keep it out of direct airflow from a fan or an AC vent, which can disturb the rhythm of the arm.
Not complicated, but it does ask for a few careful minutes. Two things decide how well it runs:
Alignment — the bamboo pole must point directly above the tipping mechanism, so the water lands where it should. Pressure — the pump is adjusted until the arm fills at an unhurried rate and tips cleanly.

A small vessel — 30 × 22 × 10 cm. The one rule: keep the water level below the wooden base, never touching it.
Indoors it evaporates slowly, so a top-up roughly once a week is usually enough. Go by what you see rather than by the calendar — change the water when it stops looking clear.
The one thing to avoid is hard water. It leaves white marks on the bamboo and encourages slime in the flow — soft, filtered, or RO water keeps both away.
Hard-water residue also shortens the life of the pump, and it isn't covered by support. It's the single easiest thing to get right from day one.

Inside the bamboo basket that forms the base sits a resin liner that holds the water, and a silent pump. Both are specified and sourced from makers we trust — we make the object, not the pump, and we'd rather name that than blur it.

Yes. COD is available with a 10% reservation amount collected upfront to secure your order and cover part of shipping.

The pump and tipping mechanism of your Laya Studio are covered for one full year from delivery.
If anything falters in normal use, your Laya returns to our studio for a complete rehaul — inspected, restored, and rebalanced by the same hands that made it, then sent back to you. We cover the work; shipping applies.
The natural ageing of bamboo and wood — shifts in tone, the patina of daily water — is not a fault. It is the material living, and it is why these objects feel the way they do.
Physical damage after delivery and residue from unfiltered hard water fall outside support — one more reason we recommend soft, filtered or RO water from day one.
From your second year as a KOYO owner, we extend up to 20% toward your next object.
This isn't about replacing what you have — a well-kept KOYO is built to live with you for years. It's for the homes that grow: a second room, a different state, the next object on your flow map.
Renewal value is capped at 20% of your original purchase or 20% of the new object, whichever is lower. One renewal per object owned.
