In the old gardens of Japan, a length of bamboo was set to fill with water until its own weight tipped it — releasing, striking, and returning to rest. One sound, arriving on its own schedule, that made the whole garden feel alive in the silence between.
Laya Garden is that form, carried forward — worked by hand in our studio, in bamboo chosen to live outdoors, for the terraces and courtyards of homes here.

Fifteen months later,
she wrote to us.
Anita placed Laya in her outdoor garden in Goa. Fifteen months of sun, rain, and coastal air later, the finish had naturally weathered. She wrote to us — not expecting much, she said.
We wrote back the same day. And made it right.

Assembled, it stands 22 inches tall and 25 inches across — a floor-standing object, not a tabletop one — and needs roughly a 2 ft × 2 ft clear spot on level ground. On a terrace, in a garden or on a generous balcony, that's comfortable; on a narrow utility balcony it's a real commitment of space, worth measuring first.
The bamboo fountain alone is 11 × 8 × 6 inches, on a wooden slab above the vessel. Unsure? Send a photo of the spot on WhatsApp → — we'd rather tell you it won't fit than have you find out on delivery.
Empty, it's light: the vessel is 1–2 kg and the fountain under a kilo, so one person can place it — no fixing, no wiring.
Filled, it's a different object: the vessel holds up to 50 litres and stays exactly where you put it. Choose the spot before you fill it.

Keep plants in their own container — loose soil travels into the pump, and silt is what ends a pump's life.
Fish are living beings, and their care is yours. We make water objects, not aquariums, so we can't advise on stocking or the water conditions they need, and fish mean more debris, so the filter needs rinsing more often — that wear isn't covered.
Whatever lives in the water, keep hard water out.
It comes with two pumps. Through the bright hours the solar pump runs it for free; for mornings, evenings, overcast days and the monsoon, you use the electric pump, which runs continuously at low wattage.

Yes — that's what it's for. The bamboo and wood are chosen to live outdoors, and the vessel is rated for sun, frost and rain without fading or cracking.
The bamboo will weather over the years. Outdoors, that reads as character, not damage. For the longest life, shelter it from the harshest direct monsoon where you can.
No. Place the vessel, set the slab and fountain on it, add water, connect your pump of choice — and Laya is running. No tools, no plumbing, no wiring into the wall.
Avoid hard water — it leaves white marks on the bamboo and encourages slime; soft, filtered or RO water keeps both away, and hard-water residue also shortens pump life (not covered by support).
There's no fixed change schedule — go by what you see, not the calendar: top up as it evaporates, change it when it looks cloudy or when dust, leaves or mud get in. Silt and debris kill pumps, not time. Rinse the pump's filter when you change the water and it lasts far longer.
The fountain — the part we make — is aged bamboo and wood, worked by hand in our studio over 21 days. No plastic imitation, no veneer.
The vessel, pumps and solar panel are specified and sourced from makers we trust. The vessel is a UV-stable, frost-proof, non-fading planter in a stone finish — real stone at 25 inches would be unliftable and would crack in transit.
We offer a 7-day replacement for any transit damage or manufacturing defect. Contact KOYO Studio via WhatsApp with your unboxing video or photos, and we'll resolve it promptly.
The electric pump and tipping mechanism are covered for one full year from delivery.
The solar pump sits outside 1 Year Studio Support — it lives in open weather and is consumable by nature, so it carries its own 3-month replacement window instead, with spares available from the studio at any time.
If anything falters in normal use, your Laya returns to our studio for a complete rehaul — inspected, restored and rebalanced by the same hands that made it. We cover the work; shipping applies.

This isn't about replacing what you have — it's for the homes that grow: a second room, a different state, the next object on your flow map.
Renewal value is capped at 20% of your original purchase or 20% of the new object, whichever is lower. One renewal per object owned.

The Laya Garden here is the complete object — it includes its own 50-litre vessel, made for a space with no water of its own.
If you already have a pond, lotus bowl or built water feature, the bamboo fountain can be made on its own, without the vessel. That's a made-to-order Studio piece, not a standard edition: send us a photo of your water on WhatsApp → and we'll tell you honestly whether it suits, and quote it.
